Andrey Vladimirovich, I have read the paper of Sosnin et. al. (JETP lett., V. 103, No 12, PP. 857-860) devoted to the apokamp discharge and I have the question. On the slide 3, there is an electronic scheme of the discharge system used for generation of the apokamp. It includes a capacitor C. In the work of Sosnin et.al. it has been mentioned, that the apokamp generation is impossible without this capacitor. Could you clarify a role, importance of the capacitor for the apokamp formation? I understand, that the apokamp is formed under the influence of an alternative voltage only, not a direct voltage. But what will be if you "shorts" the capacitor?

Yuri, a capacitor in the circuit is required, since in a real installation this parasitic capacitance is always present. If it is not included in the scheme (!), Then the apokamp will not be formed in the theory.
In other words, the apokamp does not appear in the short circuit. The capacity is needed for a supply of energy, which can quickly enter the discharge when it is re-polarized.

Thank you very much for your clarification!
